In 2018 while constructing its network, Lyndon Township entered a 5-year contract with MEC (Midwest Energy and Communications), an internet service provider (ISP), to provide internet services to residents of the Township. The 5-year term of the contract was designed to provide Township residents with internet service during an initial term and short enough in duration so that the Township could reevaluate the service and options available at the end of the initial term.Selecting an ISP involves careful consideration of many factors to ensure reliable and efficient internet connectivity. Fortunately, we have the benefit of the last five years of experience to inform our decision-making process. These are three of the most important elements to be considered not in any particular order of significance:
During its review, evaluation and consideration of ISP candidates, the Lyndon Township Broadband Oversight Committee requested and received a competitive proposal from another ISP, named ACD.NET.
After careful research and evaluation, the Oversight Committee and Lyndon Township determined that ACD.NET will provide the most benefit to the residents of Lyndon Township.
Our new ISP is ACD.NET. Their home offices are in East Lansing, MI.

Our current provider will not be giving us access to existing contact information records. This contact information is essential for our transition. ACD is undertaking a significant effort to “re-collect” this information as well as the authorization to transfer telephone service if you have subscribed to that service.
All of this information is required to ensure that ACD can communicate with residents to provide support and billing services. Please visit this website as soon as possible and help out by providing your contact information.
To submit your contact information and authorization to transfer phone service if you are subscribed to the telephone service. To ensure that we can process the transfer, this is required to be done by May 30th, 2024
All internet service options will remain in place
Telephone service, Managed Wifi service, Static IP and seasonal rates will also be available.
The Protect IQ and Experience IQ features are being being investigated.
Competitive pricing is one of the key elements in evaluating services for the township.
The agreement with ACD.NET will allow us to continue services at current rates.
MEC’s proposed contract extension provisions would have required a significant price increase to all residents.
In our five-year experience with broadband services, we have emphasized continuous improvement in network performance, reliability and availability. The most recent addition to our network was a second or redundant connection to help ensure continuous service to the township.
ACD feels that providing redundancy in the network model is their responsibility as part of being our service provider and this is included in their pricing model. In addition to redundancy, they will also provide load balancing or sharing network traffic between the connections which will promote enhanced network performance.
