Lyndon Township is located in the northwest corner of Washtenaw County, Michigan, with over 35 named lakes, rolling glacial terrain, woodlands, and wetlands this township is a great site for outdoor activities. The township’s 36 square miles has low-density housing, small-scale agriculture, high-density lake areas, and approximately 51% of the land area is state-owned.

The majority of Lyndon Township residents have Chelsea mailing addresses, some township residents have Stockbridge, Grass Lake, Gregory, or Pinckney mailing addresses. Most properties are in the Chelsea School District, the rest are in the Stockbridge School District.

Growth in Lyndon Township has been more limited than many of the townships in Washtenaw County, due to the vast amount of state-owned land, hills, marshy areas, and wooded steep hillsides.

Lyndon Townships large amount of state-owned land is part of two Recreation Areas Pinckney and Waterloo. Each has an excellent state campground in Lyndon Township – Bruin Lake Campground (in Pinckney Recreation Area) and Sugarloaf Lake Campground (in Waterloo Recreation Area). The state land in Lyndon Township is also crossed by several hiking trails both marked and unmarked.
